Mad Forest– Cast, Crew & Staff

Cast

Adam Belvo (Securitate Man, Priest, Soldier, Vampire, Painter, Grandfather, Man with a Sore Throat, Old Aunt) is psyched to be a working with QED again. Recent roles include the Second Guard in Jean Anouilh's Antigone, Sebastian in Twelfth Night and Jean in Working Man Clothes' premiere of Restaurants at Beautiful Times. Favorite roles include Victor in Zastrozzi, Menelaus in Andromache, Ted Magus in Psychic Life of Savages, and The Orator in The Chairs. This is Adam's second show with QED.

MICAH FREEDMAN* (Gabriel, Bulldozer Driver, Producer) Recent NYC credits include Chorus in QED’s production of Jean Anouilh’s Antigone, Valentine in last year’s Arcadia, Joe Pitt in Angels in America, Demetrius in Midsummer Night’s Dream, Malcolm in Macbeth, Antipholus of Ephesus in Comedy of Errors, Manders in Ghosts. Regional credits include principal and featured roles in Fiddler and Almost Like Being in Love (Barter), Showboat and Phantom (Gateway), Music Man (Mill Mountain). Micah graduated from Stanford University where he studied Music, Acting and Computer Science. Marguerite French (Lucia Vladu, Girl Student) most recently performed the title role in QED's Antigone and is honored to be working them again. Other theater roles include Juliet in Romeo and Juliet, Mikail in The Night Trombone (reading, The Public Theater),  Lisa in David and Lisa, and Lucille in The Bourgeois Gentleman. She is the Director of Development of the theater company The Management, with whom she performed the roles of Blade in This Jungle of Cities and Vivian in Aloha, Say the Pretty Girls. Film roles include Chiffon Taste in Ken Sipillary: Faith, Hope and Love, and Knockout Nelly in the upcoming Boogie Vision. Love to Adam.

MATTHEW GRAY (Ianos, Soldier) Recent NY performances: The Sinister Urge, Orgy of the Dead (Do What Now Media); World Gone Wrong (Gemini CollisionWorks); Nevada Territory, Antony and Cleopatra, The Fugitive Girls, Bitch Macbeth (DM Theatrics); Dangerous Liaisons (Wilde Mule Prod.). A BFA graduate of the North Carolina School of the Arts in directing, Matthew most recently directed and co-wrote the play Stand Clear for the downtown arts festival The Fall Collection.  He spends his days and many nights producing and developing operas at American Opera Projects. Love to Dina for all her support.

ANGUS HEPBURN* (Bogdan Vladu, Toma, Translator) has acted for over forty years in Britain and the US. Favorite roles: Cyrano, Frederick Treves (The Elephant Man), Pizarro (The Royal Hunt of the Sun), Salieri (Amadeus), Cpt. Bluntchli (Arms and the Man), Tom (Skylight), the Captain (The Father – 2002 OOBR award), Mr Peachum (Threepenny Opera), Thomas Dunne (Steward of Christendom), Henry (The Real Thing), Harpagon (The Miser) and, of course, Creon (Antigone). Christiaan Koop (Flavia Antonescu, Rodica, Grandmother,
Student Doctor) favorite roles on stage in NYC: part of the ensemble cast of CVR (Charlie Victor Romeo), Desdemona (Othello), Tourvel  (Dangerous Liaisons), Lady Montague (Romeo and Juliet). Originated the roles of Lyubov Kovalevskaya (A Little Piece of the Sun), and Ingrid (World Gone Wrong). Also works behind the scenes of stage and screen as a designer, cinematographer and editor. She is humbly honored to work with this beautifully courageous cast, director, and script. Thanks Elb.

MICK O’BRIEN (Radu Antonescu, Securitate Man, Sound Designer) Recent NYC credits include Greed: A Musical Love Story and Michael Gardner's King Lear (both for the Brick), the critically acclaimed one-man show The Christmas Suicides and World Gone Wrong (Gemini CollisionWorks), Nevada Territory (DMTheatrics), Madness & Joy (Cirque Boom), and Dracularama (Alternative Theatre Machine).  He's also a member of SAG and a professional reader of the poetry of Walt Whitman (Walt Whitman Project).  He's designed sound for films by Bryan Enk and for The Fall Collection at La Tea at CSV, among others.  He says “yes” to Julia.

Andy Waldschmidt* (Doctor, Angel, Patient, Soldier, Ghost, Waiter, Student) New York theatre credits include Subjective Theatre Co.’s Party Discipline: A Political Transformation Seminar (co-writer), 7 Blowjobs, Victims of Duty, and White Plague; NY Classical Theatre’s Taming of the Shrew in Central Park; Triggers at the InterArt Theatre; and AMFM in the First Degree and Holiday with the Gallery Players.  He has understudied several shows at the Pearl Theatre including Much Ado About Nothing, Romeo and Juliet, and She Stoops to Conquer.  Regional: Walnut Street Theatre (PA), Black Hills Playhouse (SD).  Film credits include lead roles in two independent features, Save the Forest and Matutinal Reverie. Staff

Alicia Barron (Assistant Stage Manager, Props Mistress, Choreographer) joins QED after a recent move to NYC. She is a classically trained singer/dancer who is addicted to supporting the arts and fundraising/dabbling in technical work. Credits include Oliver, A Little Night Music, Anything Goes, Bye, Bye Birdie, The Sound of Music, and many more spanning from LA to Austin, TX to Little Rock, AR.

Neil Becker (Set Designer) graduated from Cornell University with a double major in Theater Arts and Philosophy.  Recent credits include Ravel’s L’Enfant et les Sortilèges (NYU), Jean Anouilh’s Antigone (QED Productions), Puppetmaster of Lodz (Mirth), Jacques Brel is Alive and Well and Living in Paris (AUTP Schwartz Center for the Performing Arts), Sara Clemens’ The World is a Vampire (Scenic and Lighting design), Whole Day Down (Risley Theater) as well as No Exit, Far Away, and Adventures Underground (Schwartz Center Black Box). 

Bunch of People (Judd Hollander & Cynthia Leathers, Publicists) Judd has been a theatre publicist for over 10 years. Among the many companies that have trusted Judd to publicize their works are Actors Stock Company NYC, Boomerang Theatre Company, QED Productions, Oberon Theatre Company, West Side Repertory, Invisible City, and all seven (soon to be eight) Midtown International Theatre Festivals. MELISSA DAGHINI (Costume Designer) holds a BFA from NYU, Tisch School of the Arts. Recent productions include Troilus and Cressida (Slightly Askew Prod.), Arcadia (QED Prod.), The Dybbuk (NYU Drama), Alice Squared (Theatre Ink), Vassa Zheleznova (Horizon Theatre Rep) and Dear Dad, Confessions of a GoGo Dancer (Six Figures Theatre Company’s Artists of Tomorrow Festival). Annamarie de la Cruz (Marketing Consultant) After nearly 20 years marketing consumer products in the fashion, music, and cosmetics industries, Annamarie is now turning her attention to helping small businesses and not-for-profit companies grow.  She is excited to share her marketing expertise with QED Productions during their inaugural season.

Lily Fossner (Lighting Design) Recent New York credits include:  Mad Forest, Lizardskin, Brutality of Fact, The Cup. For the Chautauqua Theater Company:  Aux Cops.  For NYU/Grad Acting: A Perfect Wedding, A Lie of the Mind, Uncle Vanya, The Legend of the Kinnaree.  For the Berkshire Theatre Festival:  It Goes Without Saying, Nursery Rhyme Café, Just So Stories, Strange Waves.  MFA, NYU.

Ashley Herron (Stage Manager) Ashley Herron has been a jack-of-all-trades in dance and theatre all over the country for over 20 years. Her credits include last year’s Arcadia, Annie, Anything Goes, Joseph…Dreamcoat, Once on This Island, Music Man, Jekyll and Hyde, and many more both on stage and behind the scenes.

Carolyn Louth (Graphic Designer) graduated from Louisiana State University with a BFA in Studio Art and Graphic Design. A passion for the arts and a career in design led her to New York City, where she currently lives, works and plays ultimate frisbee.

Julia O’Brien (Director) Julia is an actor, director and teacher recently transplanted from Pittsburgh, PA where she was the Director of Education at Saltworks Theatre Company for 6 years. This summer, she appeared in the NYC Fringe Festival in The Great God Money, captivating one and all with the extraordinary pathos she brought to roles such as "Dragon," and "Computer." She will be directing QED’s next production, Mad Forest, by Caryl Churchill. BA in theater from Messiah College/Temple University.

Mike Romanowski (Electrician) moved down to NYC upon graduating UMass (Amherst) this past May with a degree in Theatre. His main area of concern is lighting. His previous work in the field of lighting included shows like The Glass Menagerie,Turn of the Screw and children's shows like Wizard of Oz and Little Red Riding Hood. He hopes that moving down to NYC will open up new opportunities, new friends, and of course, a wild ride.

Mihail Simonescu (Romanian Language Consultant) Mihail is a professional voiceover artist based in Bucharest, specializing in narration and documentaries, educational videos, e-Learning, and audiobooks. He can be reached on the web at www.1creativeproductions.com.

ZANDER TELLER (Accent Coach, Producer) Zander is a founding member of QED and directed our first two productions (Stoppard’s Arcadia and Anouilh’s Antigone, which he also translated from the French). He has extensive experience and training as an actor and holds an M.F.A. in acting from the University of California, San Diego. He also holds a B.S. in physics from Stanford University. Many thanks to all who worked so hard to make this production a reality.

Mike Yahn (Fight Choreographer) is a graduate of NYU's Tisch School of the Arts and an Advanced Actor-Combatant through the Society of American Fight directors. When not cheating death on stage, Mike is also extremely proud to be cheating death with other people’s lives as Fight Choreographer for the American Academy of Dramatic Arts, The New England Shakespeare Festival, New York University, as well as Assistant to Fight Master J. David Brimmer on such shows as Spring Awakening the Musical (Broadway), The Lieutenant of Inishmore (Broadway), Bare (Off Broadway), BUG (Off-Broadway), and Revenger’s Tragedy (Off-Broadway) to name just a few.
